MEST organized the Conference “Education for employment – cooperation of vocational schools with businesses”

Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in cooperation with Kosova Economic Chamber, has organized the conference “Education for employment – cooperation of vocational schools with businesses”. The purpose of this conference is discussion and issuance of conclusions on cooperation modalities between vocational schools with businesses, with the aim to increase the student number of vocational education in the implementation of practical teaching and professional practice.

Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Arsim Bajrami has stressed that this conference concludes the initial phase of campaign for harmonization of education with labour market needs and equipping youth with skills, which will also be bearers of the society transformation. 

“This campaign has for purpose achievement of a consensus within the education system for the needs of vocational education reformation and its interconnection with employment, economic development and labour market needs. Today education is economy, vocational education is resource for industry and we with this conference are giving an important contribution to efforts of the Government of Kosova to build human capital”, said Minister Bajrami. 

Minister Bajrami has thanked donors and governments of the different European countries, which have helped Kosova to reform vocational education, clearly defining the needs of the labour market and students’ early orientation in career  

Ongoing, Minister Bajrami has thanked representatives of businesses to become part pf vocational education, as important partners in preparation of pupils and students with skills and economic development of the country.  



While Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Ramiz Kelmendi has estimated that the conclusions, which will emerge from this conference will help to improve vocational education in Kosova and its alignment with the needs of the labour market, as a problem, which necessarily raises the involvement of many factors in this process. 

Thomas Gnocchi, Head of Unit for Political Affairs, Economic and European Integration in the European Union Office in Kosova said that this conference aims to improve practical teaching and the provision of training to students about the needs of the labour market. 

The Conference was attended by the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr. Arban Abrashi and President of Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Safet Gërxhaliu.

Conclusions that will emerge from the discussions of this conference will be used as the basis for drafting the platform of cooperation between the Government, vocational schools and businesses



The conference is also organized in supporting the project “Harmonization of Education with Labour Market Needs – ALLED”, co-financed by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency, the project “Kosova Education and Employment Network – KEEN, funded by the European Union, and with the support of the project funded by the Government of Luxembourg KSV / 015 “Support VET reform in Kosova”.
