THE INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENT DAY WAS MARKED IN KOSOVA

In the framework of marking the International Environment Day, UNICEF in Kosova, in cooperation with the Swedish Development Agency (SIDA) have organized a debate with heads of institutions and representatives of young people in Kosova, whereupon was said that changing living habits and raising awareness about air pollution would have an even greater impact if it started with students, for which the Ministry of Education has an important role.

The Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci said that our young people are not only aware, but their awareness is continuing strongly and today, while this day is being marked, awareness activities are being developed in our schools according to the green agenda.

Speaking about educational policies and opportunities for young people to be trained and prepared for a healthy environment, Minister Nagavci emphasized that, in Kosovo’s curricula, activities for the green environment are included within the subject of biology, civic education and some elective courses.

Nagavci also informed that MESTI in coordination with the relevant ministries is working to have a multidimensional approach in this direction.

The ambassador of Sweden in Kosova, Jonas Westerlund, the head of the UNICEF Office, Ms. Nona Zicherman, the deputy minister of the environment, Avni Zogjani, the deputy minister of Finance, Getuar also spoke about the importance of a clean environment and raising awareness among young people.
