THE OATH-GIVING CEREMONY OF 17 PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS WAS HELD

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dukagjin Pupovci, participated in the seventh consecutive Oath-Giving Ceremony of 17 Peace Corps volunteers, who have come to serve in Kosova and have already become familiar with Albanian culture and Serbian culture and the same can write and communicate both languages.

The volunteers will be involved in two programs: community development and engagement as English language teachers in public primary and secondary schools, mainly in rural areas.

The President of the Republic of Kosova, Vjosa Osmani, was also present at the ceremony, who said that Kosova and the United States of America share common values, while expressing her thanks to the volunteers who today took the oath to serve the communities in Kosova.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Pupovci said that he feels happy that Kosova is part of the cooperation with the Peace Corps, a cooperation which will definitely continue due to the mission of providing support in building educational capacities and providing real values to students and our schools.

Pupovci emphasized that the work of Peace Corps volunteers is exceptional, as it will influence teachers to improve their practices, while students will have the opportunity to learn English from native speakers.

Among other things, the deputy minister said that the young volunteers will be pleasantly surprised by the hospitality of the schools they will work in and the community they will serve, not only because we have a tradition of hospitality, but even more so because our people are proud of the partnership and friendship between Kosova and the United States of America.

He thanked Ambassador Hovenier for his hard work and great dedication, the General Director, Mrs. Siganda, as well as the extremely professional Peace Corps staff here in Kosova.

The General Director of the Peace Corps in Kosova, Carolyne Siganda, and the Deputy Head of the United States of America, Alyson Grunder, also spoke about the importance of the programs, who said that the special feature of these programs is the exchange of experiences between the American community and the communities in Kosova.
