WEEK AGAINST SCHOOL DROPOUT

November 24, 2022

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Convention on the rights of the child, MESTI starts the Week against school dropout, as an awareness campaign for prevention and response to school dropout and non-registration, as an undertaking to ensure the right to education for all citizens, without difference to gender, ethnicity, ability and other condition.

Barriers of different natures within the education system, especially those of access to education, related to the many individual, family, social factors with different social, economic, health and cultural contexts, require a multidisciplinary approach, therefore in line with the legislation in force established Teams for Prevention and Response to School Dropout and Non-registration (TPRSDN), at school, municipality and ministry level.

The national level team led by MESTI, together with development partners (UNICEF, ECMI, OSCE, ILO, etc.), has drafted anti-dropout policies, and provides support to municipal and school teams in their implementation. There are clear instructions for how these teams operate and the entire system is integrated into the Education Information Management System.

This week was preceded by numerous visits to municipalities and schools, sessions against dropout and violence, while from the 20th to the 25th, multidisciplinary discussion tables will be held in five regions, in which case a promotional and sensitization brochure against dropout will be distributed. At the end of the week, the schools that regularly report on cases at risk of dropping out and those of school violence will be rewarded.

For an effective prevention and response to abandonment and violence, cooperation between teachers and parents and other municipal services, including civil society, is required.

Together for the right to education for all and the well-being of our children!
