The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Western Balkans Leadership Platform, in Skopje, which was attended by ministers from various countries in the region. In this meeting, ways of deepening cooperation with the European Union were discussed, focusing on several key areas such as innovation, scientific research, education, culture, youth and sports.
During the discussions, Minister Nagavci emphasized that the Government of Kosova has given high priority to education and has allocated significant funds for its improvement, with the aim of advancing the quality of the education system and creating new opportunities for our young people.
Nagavci spoke about the initiatives undertaken by the Government, including the start of dual education, a model that connects theory with practice, preparing students for the labor market, the consolidation of career centers in schools and universities, providing guidance to suitable for the professional orientation of young people and the allocation of over 10 million euros in the form of scholarships, to support our students in pursuing studies, both at home and abroad.
Among other things, the minister also said that important steps have been taken to create favorable conditions for the development of start-ups and innovative projects, adding that the creation of policies for the independence of the Kosova Accreditation Agency preceded the return of her as an associate member in ENQA, improving quality standards in higher education.
Within the framework of the participation in the Ministerial Meeting of the Western Balkan Leading Platforms for Education, Training, Research and Culture, Minister Nagavci held bilateral meetings with some of the most important leaders in these fields.
With Iliana Ivanova, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, with Signe Ratso, Deputy Director General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission, Pilvi Torsti, Director of the European Training Foundation and colleagues from the region, among others, the discussion is focused on deepening cooperation to advance education, scientific research and innovation in our countries.
