MINISTER NAGAVCI TOOK PART AT THE WORLD CONGRESS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, has participated in the proceedings of the World Congress for Persons with Disabilities “Together for Inclusion and Prosperity”, where 31 delegations from all over the world are participating, as well as senior officers of Kosova’s institutions, ambassadors and personalities from international and local organizations.

In the first panel of the Congress with topic “Children with disabilities and their inclusion in education and society”, Minister Nagavci spoke about the work that has been done in this direction and the goals for the coming years, in order to improve the situation.

After mentioning the fact that the year 2022 has been declared by the Government of Kosova as the Year of Persons with Disabilities, emphasized that the right to education is a guaranteed right and inclusiveness in education is a priority of the Government and the Ministry of Education.

The minister said that Kosova applies an integrated approach to education and among the actions that have been taken to improve the situation, she mentioned the employment of 100 assistants for children with special needs and the allocation of the budget for the next year, for the employment of 300 more.

She also emphasized the training and professional support that has been provided in collaboration with development partners for teachers who have children with special needs in their classes.

The Congress is being held under the patronage of the Goodwill Ambassador for Kosova at the International Commission for Human Rights, Elvana Shala, while the project is supported by the Office of the President of Kosova, the Assembly of Kosova, the Municipality of Prishtina and the embassies operating in Kosova.
