The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, together with the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, within the framework of the campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, visited the students of the “Elena Gjika” Secondary School of Medicine. This year, the motto of the awareness campaign was: “Through quality education for healthy and violence-free families”.
Minister Nagavci emphasized that MESTI has paid special attention to the inclusion of topics that address gender-based violence, including these topics in pre-university education curricula, as well as through numerous extracurricular activities and other promotional materials that serve students, teachers and parents.
The Minister also encouraged students to obtain information from reliable sources and to be careful with the use and distribution of materials online, as they can serve as an opportunity to endanger girls and women due to the abuse of information that may be shared online by them, or without their will.
Meanwhile, Minister Haxhiu spoke about the importance of awareness campaigns in preventing such phenomena from digital violence, through increased care of parents and teachers in the good and fair use of social networks.
Meanwhile, the director of the “Elena Gjika” Medical Secondary School, Bahrije Hoxha, thanked Minister Nagavci for her commitment to preventing digital and gender-based violence, as important issues for creating a safer environment.
This year, Minister Nagavci has decided that in all schools in the Republic of Kosovo, the first lesson will be dedicated to the prevention of gender-based violence. Also, during Friday, the Ministry has organized information sessions in six regions of Kosovo, and two workshops on the prevention of digital violence, in which the Child Protection Modules package was presented, and other important documents related to the prevention of this phenomenon.
