The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, hosted in a meeting the European Union Ambassador to Kosova, Aivo Orav, with whom they discussed support and reform in education.
Minister Nagavci thanked Ambassador Orav for his cooperation and support for Kosova in the field of education, adding that as of February 2023, work has been underway to incorporate the recommendations of the Rapid Education Diagnosis into MESTI documents and strategies. For this purpose, a working group has been established with competent officials within MESTI and the Government.
At this meeting, Minister Nagavci informed the Ambassador about the implementation of dual education, which for the third year in a row has begun to be applied in Kosova, where more than 1,500 students are involved in 12 profiles in different schools, while adding that the Ministry of Education is working with companies and businesses to engage these students in companies for 51% of school time.
Minister Nagavci also emphasized that one of the priorities of MESTI is the development and inclusion of children in early education, where certain changes have been made to the relevant legislation. Meanwhile, the EU Ambassador, Aivo Orav, spoke about the support of the European Union, as he emphasized, for a sensitive field such as education, adding that early education is of particular importance for the European Union as well.
During the meeting, the importance of research and innovation was also discussed, where Minister Nagavci spoke about the re-functionalization of the National Science Council and the finalization of the National Science Program.
