The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, hosted in the meeting the President of the American Councils for International Education, Lisa Choate, the Director of the American Councils office in Kosova, Gjeni Shporta, and the Regional Director of the American Councils, Elvira Dana, with whom he discussed exploring new opportunities to contribute to educational development in Kosovo through programs for the US-Kosovo Educational Exchange Board (USKEB) and the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange Program (YES).
During the meeting, Minister Nagavci expressed her happiness for the cooperation with the Kosovar-American Education Fund (KAEF), thanking the American Councils for their commitment and exchange of young people and educational staff between Kosova and the United States of America.
Nagavci further said that we are happy about the cooperation and all the success stories we have so far with the Kosovar-American Education Fund (KAEF) and for this reason, last year more than 100,000 euros were allocated for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange Program (YES), since it is important for us that students benefit as much as possible.
In the meeting was also discussed Media Education and its integration into school curricula, for which Minister Nagavci emphasized the importance of including it as a subject in primary and secondary schools, in order to avoid misinformation and education on obtaining information.
Meanwhile, the president of the American Councils, Lisa Choate, indicated that, exchanged students through the YES program understand that they have had a unique opportunity to share their experiences, for which Choate said, they usually continue their studies and return to Kosova to contribute to their country.
