The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, participated in the presentation event of the Pivot-RP Platform, which provides spaces for researchers to find funding for research, as well as the publication of two reports from the HEI’25 Project: Financial transparency of public universities 2023 and profiles of public universities in Kosova.
Minister Nagavci said on this occasion that one of the priorities in the Education Strategy 2022-26 is to improve the quality of higher education, making it more competitive. To achieve this, we must ensure that higher education institutions and Kosovar researchers have access to platforms such as Web of Science, which enables professional exchanges in all scientific disciplines.
Nagavci further said that the Ministry of Education has taken a series of concrete steps and actions, both in terms of policies and practical initiatives, the adoption in the Assembly of the Law on the Kosova Accreditation Agency (KAA), which guarantees institutional and financial independence for the KAA, the election of the new National Science Council, the approval of the National Science Program by the Government, which had expired in 2015 and had not been renewed since then.
The Minister emphasized that all possible modalities should be examined until we find one suitable for our position and regardless of the membership modalities, as well as in addition to providing access, the platform should guarantee the determination of the correct designation of Kosovo as a state in the list of profiled countries.
Among other things, the minister said that MESTI is open to discuss all possible options for supporting the participation of our researchers in platforms such as WEB of Science, by covering the costs of their publications on online platforms.
Meanwhile, via the online line, Clarivate’s Director of Research and Analytics for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Radek Budzichowski, said that, as a provider of the Web of Science and choices for analysis, assessment and comparison, our role is not only as a provider of data, which is critical for the decision-making process today, but also as a mentor for the research community.
