The Report on the Evaluation of the Kosova Gender Equality Program 2020-2024 was presented

The Agency for Gender Equality has presented the Final Report on the Evaluation of the Kosovo Program for Gender Equality 2020-2024, on which occasion it was emphasized that this Report marks the conclusion of a mandatory policy cycle for the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, which was implemented over a four-year period.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said that the Kosovo Program for Gender Equality 2020-2024 is driven by a mission to place gender equality at the center of transformational processes in our Republic.

Prime Minister Kurti announced that the strategic approach of this report was extended to three main areas: economic empowerment and social well-being, advancing gender equality through quality and comprehensive education and health, while also promoting equal rights in decision-making, peace, security and justice.

Deputy Minister of Education, Arsim Ademi, mentioned that this Report shows the progress made and the challenges faced in achieving gender equality. He emphasized that the Ministry of Education has set gender equality as one of the main priorities since the beginning of its mandate.

Deputy Minister Ademi also expressed the importance of cooperation with international organizations and the commitment to continue improving the situation of women and girls in the education sector. Among other things, the Deputy Minister noted the successes achieved in reducing women’s unemployment and increasing their participation in decision-making.

Acting Executive Director of the Agency for Gender Equality, Edi Gusia, presented the Report, the findings of which she said will serve to draft a new strategic document for gender equality for the ten-year period.

Also present at this meeting were the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, and Henrik Riby, Deputy Chief of Staff for Cooperation and Development at the Embassy of Sweden.

The assessment report was carried out by the Agency for Gender Equality in the Office of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, with the support of UN Women in Kosovo, a project funded by the European Union “Gender Equality Instrument”, as well as the project “Transformative Financing for Gender Equality in the Western Balkans” funded by SIDA.
