The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci participated in the EU-Western Balkans Media Education Conference, which has been organized by the European Union and aims to promote media education and combat disinformation in the region.
Minister Nagavci in her opening speech said that the fight against disinformation is a big challenge and that Kosova is an example in terms of media freedom.
“Given that we are surrounded by technology this influence is naturally not easy and when it comes to misinformation so that it does not become dangerous. Likewise, the role of school and education is vital and I am glad that the EU office is working in the same direction as us”, said Minister Nagavci, among other things.
Minister Nagavci emphasized that they are coordinating actions with partners to introduce media education in our schools, in order to nurture a healthy media culture and the verification of facts.
Meanwhile, the EU Ambassador in Kosova, Aivo Orav, emphasized the importance of media education in the fight against disinformation and the promotion of responsible journalism. He appreciated the efforts of the Government of Kosova and the cooperation with the European Union to improve media education in schools and to support media freedom.
