The President of Kosova, Vjosa Osmani, the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci and the UNDP representative in Kosova, Nuno Queiros, have participated in the graduation ceremony of the first generation of the Global Engineer Girls (GEG) program, which was established in 2022, in partnership with Limak Kosova and UNDP.
Minister Nagavci, on this occasion, emphasized the importance of the graduation of the first generation of the GEG program, which promotes the professional advancement of girls in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
“The innovation of this program lies in the fact that it aims to create a motivating ecosystem for more girls and women to develop their potential. This is the special feature of the program, and at the same time the key to its success”, said the minister, while stressing that it takes effort, in order to achieve such a thing.
Minister Nagavci also emphasized that the Government of Kosova is successfully fulfilling its commitments to create wider spaces and opportunities for the inclusion of women and girls in all areas of life.
“In particular, the Ministry of Education has intensified support for girls in STEM, starting from the thousands of scholarships given to students in the first two years of the mandate, up to the organization of the big STEMinists Conference this year, which, thanks to its success, will be a tradition for every year”, she said.
After mentioning the obstacles that women face every day in life, at work and in society, Minister Nagavci spoke about a series of decisions she has taken in this regard, which help, encourage and empower girls and women.
Minister Nagavci thanked the international partners for their unsparing support in these processes, in particular UNDP, which continues to provide support in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals. (SDGs).
