The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci participated in the ceremony of awarding the title “Doctor Honoris Causa” of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina””, Michael Wood, for his role in advancing peace and justice through international law, including the opinion of the International Court of Justice for Kosova.
Minister Arbërie Nagavci in her welcoming speech said that today we honor with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa a personality with special values for the history and people of Kosova, a character who played the main role in an event that symbolizes the historical triumph of justice – Sir Michael Wood.
Nagavci emphasized that it is not easy to summarize in a single speech the contribution of our guest of honor to the modern history of Kosova, as he is an international personality of high caliber, with many decades of experience in the field of justice as in the country of his homeland, as well as in Europe and the world.
Among other things, the Minister spoke about the great contribution of Sir Michael Wood, not only for Kosova, but also further in the region, with his involvement in the Dayton and Rambouillet processes, adding that he has constantly participated in the efforts international to put in place justice and peoples’ rights to self-determination.
Nagavci also said that, for the people of Kosovo, Wood occupies a special place as the leader of Kosova’s legal team at the International Court of Justice, which resulted in the historic Opinion of this Court on the legality of Kosova’s declaration of independence.
“It is no coincidence that Michael Wood holds the title ‘Sir’. From now on, he will also hold a new title from the University of Prishtina. The people of Kosova know how to be thankful, and they do it from the heart. We express such a thing today publicly and globally, giving the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to the man who supported Kosova so much in its rightful cause of independence”, Minister Nagavci said at the end..
