Was signed the Memorandum of Understanding with ALLED Project

Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Arsim Bajrami, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr. Arben Abrashi, Mr. Christian Geositas from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and other partners from ALLED Project “Harmonization of Education with Labour Market Demands”, signed today the Memorandum of Understanding, which is expected to have important influence in vocational education development and advancement of exact sciences.

Minister Bajrami has assessed as important the signing of this agreement for the government of Kosova, regarding implementation of the national project for quality improvement in education and economic development.

“Through this project we will provide vocational education with European standards and employment. The time has come that educational system from pre-university level, especially higher education to prepare people, who will contribute in country’s economic development”, stressed Minister Bajrami, while added that results of this project will have important influence in compilation of policies of the Partner ministries, MEST and MLSW, in order to provide employment through vocational education reformation. 

Minister Bajrami, among others stressed that MEST now has already begun strategic projects for orientation of pupils and students towards exact sciences, such as: Mechanical engineering, Agriculture and Food Technology.

While, Minister Abrashi said that ALLED Project is a good start for unemployment reduce and interconnection of the offer with demand.

“There is will of both relevant ministries MEST and MLSW to create a cooperation culture to move processes forward, regarding advancement of vocational education”, stressed Minister Abrashi, who spoke also for the relevance of this project, in adjustment of the educational system with labour market needs.

Christian Geositas from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) said that, regulation of the labour market through training of well prepared personnel, are main aim of this project.  

On the other side, Stergios Teragoudas from the European Union Office in Kosova, assessed that it is important for a state which has such a great potential, to address the incompatibility that exists between the skills that are earned in higher education and skills required by the labour market.

ALLED Project has a budget of 3, 5 Million Euros and is financed from the European Union, co-financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation, with focus in: adjustment of the educational system with labour market, construction of curricula or compatible teaching programs, with aim to create people of skills and competences and support of schools and universities with equipments and trainings in teachers preparation, in compliance with European standards. 

Otherwise, the signatories of the Memorandum of Understanding also are UP, eight school of Vocational Education and Training, eight Municipal Education Directorates and Centres for Vocational Education.
