The European Esports Championship opens in Prishtina – EEC25

The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the acting Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, and the acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrullah Çeku, participated in the opening ceremony of the European Esports Championship – EEC25, which is being held in Prishtina from 9th to 13th July 2025.

This championship represents more than a competition, it is an important event that aims to celebrate the passion, dedication and empowerment of young people, creating a special space for the development of youth talent and ambition in the field of technology and digital games.

During his opening speech at this event, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the historical importance of organizing such a championship in Kosova, describing it as evidence of the country’s increasingly prominent role in the European digital and sports scene. He underlined that esports are not just competitions, but a platform for the personal and professional development of young people, for promoting creativity, innovation and international cooperation..

On behalf of Kosovo’s institutions, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the International Esports Federation and European partners for their trust and support in organizing this high-level event, describing it as a reflection of Kosovo’s organizational capacities and vision for the future.

Occasional speeches were also given at the ceremony by the president of the Kosovo Esports Federation, Altin Preniqi, and the president of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi, who emphasized the importance of integrating esports into the sports and educational development of young people in the country.
