In the presence of the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Acting Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, and the Secretary General, Fadile Dyla, the Education Inspectorate opened the Workshop on “Good Practices for Effective Inspection”, to emphasize the role of the inspector as a guiding partner on the path towards improving quality in education.

In his welcoming speech, the Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, praised the work and dedication of education inspectors in supervising and guaranteeing the quality of education in Kosovo, emphasizing that the Education Inspectorate is the main pillar of the implementation of educational policies and the compliance guarantor with standards in public and private educational institutions.

“The role of the Inspectorate is not to punish, but to guide, advise and support educational institutions. You are partners of teachers and school principals, fellow travelers on the journey to quality. For this reason, MESTI will continue to invest in training, better working conditions and continuous professional development”, emphasized Prime Minister Kurti.

Prime Minister Kurti recalled that for many years the Education Inspectorate has operated with only 25 inspectors for the entire country, but thanks to the commitment of the Government of Kosovo and MESTI, this number has now increased, including 22 new inspectors who have recently been accepted.

On the other hand, Minister Nagavci praised the work of the Inspectorate for the first time implementing the process of evaluating the performance of teachers for the advanced license level, as an important step towards professional development and increasing the quality of teaching.

Minister Nagavci also mentioned a series of investments and achievements that have influenced the overall improvement of the education system, including: the adoption of 9 laws and draft laws and 41 administrative instructions that regulate processes at all levels of education; the drafting of the Education Strategy 2022–2026; the adoption of the Draft Law on Early Childhood Education (ECE) and the construction of 14 new kindergartens, with support from the European Union, 29 others which are in the construction process and 5 in the tendering process; the construction of 18 new schools, the renovation of 8 existing schools, as well as the construction of 15 sports halls throughout the country; the strengthening of vocational and dual education, through the inclusion of over 900 students in 23 schools, the training of instructors and Kosovo’s participation in the European Alliance for Vocational Internships.

The Minister emphasized that all these investments and reforms are not separate from the work of the Education Inspectorate, but go towards improving teaching conditions and facilitating the work of inspectors in the field, strengthening the education system as a whole.

At the end of her speech, Minister Nagavci expressed gratitude to all inspectors for their daily engagement, professionalism and dedication.

The Director General of the Education Inspectorate, Besa Bytyqi Baraliu, said that the support of Minister Nagavci and the Government of Kosovo for the Education Inspectorate is clear evidence that quality in education is a national priority.

“This motivates us to work with even greater dedication to guarantee an education system where every institution operates with high standards of professionalism and responsibility”, she added.
