The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) reacts to the article published on July 11, 2025 by Gazeta Nacionale, entitled “State money in dust, this is the condition of MESTI vehicles”, which contains inaccurate and one-sided information, which may create a wrong perception in public opinion..
MESTI emphasizes that the published film material does not realistically reflect the actual condition of the vehicles owned by the Ministry. Some of the vehicles shown in the video have been obtained over the years through international donations, and although some of them have been used for a long period, they continue to be functional and meet the operational needs of the Ministry, especially in activities carried out in the field.
Furthermore, we would like to emphasize that the vehicle with license plate 3Z-748-09, shown in the video, is not and has never been owned by MESTI, and its inclusion in the report is unfounded and misinforming.
Currently, the vehicles available to MESTI are used in a rational and planned manner, in order to achieve the institution’s mission. This year, the same vehicles were successfully used in the administration of the State Matura Exam and the Achievement Test, proving their functionality and regular maintenance.
Regarding the three vehicles shown in the video and which are currently not in use, we would like to clarify that they are from 2002 and have been deregistered and identified as out of service. For these vehicles, the legal procedure for their removal is in process according to the relevant regulation and legislation in force.
MESTI recalls that the management of public assets, including the transport unit, is carried out in accordance with legal standards and financial procedures regularly controlled by the relevant internal and external mechanisms.
