The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) has today promoted the handbook for teachers and education professionals “Protection of children from trafficking – the role of the school”, which was prepared by MESTI and supported by the Council of Europe.
On this occasion, the Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci emphasized that the Ministry of Education’s key principle is the safety and protection of children from any negative phenomena and the provision of a safe environment for them.
The minister spoke about the importance of this initiative, which aims to raise the awareness of the educational framework for various aspects of child protection in schools, while she said that this manual includes knowledge about protection, as well as new methods for preventing this phenomenon, as well as for reintegration of trafficked children.
“It is our primary duty as the Minister and the Government, but also of our society as a whole, to do our best to stop them”, said Minister Nagavci, while thanking the Council of Europe for the support.
The National Coordinator Against Human Trafficking, Blerim Gashani, and the Deputy Head of the Council of Europe, Tankut Soykan, also spoke about the importance of this handbook, who emphasized the role of the school as a key role in the global battle against human trafficking, where children are also targeted.
