Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arsim Ademi, participated in the workshop with teachers on the role of schools in preventing and combating human trafficking, as well as in the presentation of the Handbook for teachers and education professionals on the protection of children from trafficking, which was drafted by the Ministry of Education, with the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission in Kosova.
Deputy Minister Ademi stressed the importance of the Ministry’s cooperation with the OSCE Mission to ensure a safe environment for children in schools. He noted that this cooperation has always been successful and that working with international institutions increases guarantees and efficiency in preventing and combating human trafficking.
Ademi further said that MESTI has been and continues to be active in implementing national strategies for the prevention of human trafficking. He mentioned that MESTI has integrated this topic into educational curricula and subject programs, especially in Civic Education and Life Skills.
Also, Deputy Minister Ademi said that, through teacher training and cooperation with partners, MESTI has increased the capacities of schools to address this topic, in an inter-curricular and extra-curricular manner, aiming for a more efficient preventive role.
Finally, Ademi announced that the Ministry of Education has planned and will implement several other actions during this school year to strengthen the protection of children from trafficking, including the Teacher’s Manual on the Protection of Children from Trafficking, the Child Protection Module Package, and the Child Protection Policies.
