The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci participated in the discussion table on the topic “Challenges of students of public universities in Kosova”, organized by the Student Activism Congress.
The purpose of the table was to identify the deficiencies in the public universities of Kosova and turn them into goals towards the choice for each deficiency and that the main word of this goal should be the students themselves.
On this occasion, Minister Nagavci said that, in education, the processes are guided by two basic factors: policies and practices, where progress has been noted on many fronts of the education sector. Further, she said that, from the beginning, higher education is at the top of the priorities, aware that the youth there receives the major impetus to join the labor market.
In this regard, Minister Nagavci emphasized that the legal and programmatic infrastructure is being worked on in parallel, taking into account the social aspects and the transformations that are happening rapidly. Initially, the 2022-2026 Education Strategy was approved, where higher education is one of the 5 basic priorities. She also mentioned other actions that have been undertaken in higher education.
As part of the practices, Minister Nagavci said that facilities have been created for students of public universities, freeing them from semester payments, support has been provided with scholarships for 3 consecutive years, student and academic mobility has been intensified through cooperation with Erasmus+ and other similar projects.
At this discussion table, the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, was also present, expressing her support in addressing the challenges and various phenomena that occur in universities.
