Through capacity building of scientific research and innovation, as priorities of this Government, we significantly increase the quality of education, and together with it contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
This was said by the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, who together with the Austrian Ambassador to Kosovo, Christoph Weidinger, participated in the opening of the conference “Policy Dialogue in the field of scientific research and innovation”, organized by HERAS + supported by MESTI and the Austrian Development Cooperation.
The conference aims to start a discussion of all stakeholders to develop a list of medium and long-term actions needed to develop an efficient and effective system for research and innovation in Kosova.
Minister Nagavci thanked the Government of Austria for the strong support for education in Kosova, while speaking about the intention of MESTI to increase the capacity of scientific research and innovation, said that the Ministry focuses on policy-making that is based on scientific evidence.
She wished that the conference sessions come up with valuable recommendations that will help the Ministry of Education to compile a comprehensive guide to the processes that await us in research and innovation.
The Ambassador of Austria in Kosovo, Christoph Weidinger, emphasized the fact that Austria is one of the most active donors in the field of higher education in Kosova, and said that support will continue in important efforts for scientific research and innovation.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Education, Edona Maloku Bërdyna, spoke about the vision of the Government of Kosova, respectively the plans of MESTI for the coming years, in order for our country to mark achievements in scientific research and innovation.
The conference, which is attended by representatives of institutions, representatives of higher education, researchers and innovators from the country and the diaspora, donors, representatives of civil society, in the afternoon continued the work in sessions.
The contribution gathered during the conference will serve as a basis for drafting a document that will facilitate the work of MESTI on policy planning in the field of research and innovation.
