The Conference “Integrity and Transparency in Higher Education: Challenges and ways for improvement” was held

The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci and senior officials of MESTI participated in the Higher Education Conference “Integrity and Transparency in Higher Education: challenges and ways for improvement”, which is the second conference, within the project “Supporting higher education through advocacy and contribution based on research”, which is supported by the Western Balkans Foundation for Open Society and through which the Coalition for Integrity and Transparency in the University has been supported in the last two years.
This Conference is an important event that aims to address two key values for the development of a sustainable and reliable education system: integrity and transparency.
Minister Nagavci in her speech of the occasion emphasized that, for government institutions, civil society is a powerful gauge of state policies and institutional actions and regardless of momentary agreements or disagreements, the goal is the same and common: improving the lives of citizens.
The Minister also said that the Government of Kosova and the Ministry of Education are open to various actions and initiatives coming from civil society organizations, promoting open communications and continuous support.
Minister Nagavci further emphasized the importance of cooperation with the KITU coalition, describing it as very productive in the key processes of higher education. She mentioned the support of the coalition in the drafting of the new Statute of the University of Prishtina, an achievement of particular importance, she also emphasized the monitoring of the National Council for Recognition of the NARIC Center in MESTI, which is now carried out within the HEI 25 Project.
She has mentioned the new Education Strategy 2022-2026, one of the five key strategic objectives is to improve the quality, integrity and competitiveness of higher education.
Whereas, in his speech during this conference, the General Director of the Kosova Accreditation Agency, Naim Gashi, emphasized the importance of the institutional and financial independence of KAA to ensure a healthy ecosystem in higher education.
He pointed out that the adoption of the Law on KAA is a big step towards guaranteeing quality and integrity in this sector.
