Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, supported by the German Government through Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and other donors, have started the campaign “Dual learning: Opportunities for employment and self-employment of young people” with the aim of raising awareness in society, about the impact that Vocational Education and Training has on the economic development and growth of the country.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Albin Kurti, in his speech said that our young population is one of the greatest assets, therefore it is our duty and privilege to equip these young people with the tools and skills necessary for the dynamic labor market.
Prime Minister Kurti also said that Kosovo’s cooperation with the Government of Germany emphasizes the importance of international cooperation and the connection of professional training with the labor market.
On this occasion, he invited parents to encourage their children to follow the dual education system, in order to build this stable and important bridge, both for the state and the economy, as well as for the family and the citizen.
Among other things, Prime Minister Kurti requested that this campaign serve for partnerships, where companies will express and address their interests and needs to the Ministry of Education, but also to the relevant schools in their municipalities.
The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci on this occasion emphasized that Vocational Education and Training provides solutions and direction to many economies in the world and as such, dual education is one of the ways through which Kosovo is moving in step with developed places.
Minister Nagavci said that the concept of duality, which was once viewed with uncertainty and reservations, has today become a value because human society has evolved beyond the rigid concepts of the past and now the dual concept is being seen as two parts that complement each other.
Nagavci also said that, in the last six months, the Ministry of Education has made a series of preparations for the success of this initiative, including the preparation of competitions in coordination with the private sector, MEDs and professional schools, the development of the format of dual education curricula, the development of curricula for grades 10, 11, and 12, the organization of training and professional support for teachers, as well as the preparation of pedagogical documents necessary for the smooth running of this process.
The minister has invited the entrepreneurs to open the doors for the students, parents and teachers to support the students in this journey, and in particular invited the students to use these extraordinary opportunities for their future.
The Ambassador of Germany in Kosova, Jorn Rohde, said that Kosova and Germany have an excellent cooperation in the field of education. Rohde also spoke about the importance of education and vocational training in the country’s economic development.
