Acting Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, together with the Director of Pre-University Education, Anita Kadriu, today visited the Juvenile Correctional Center (JCC) in Lipjan.
During the visit, the MESTI delegation was received by the Deputy Director of the Center, Lulzim Gashi, the Director of the Department for the Treatment of Prisoners and Juveniles, Trëndelina Qorraj, the Deputy Director of the Kosovo Correctional Service, Ridvan Hoti, as well as the correctional staff and the school staff operating within the Center.
On this occasion, Minister Nagavci emphasized that this is the second time she has visited the Center, expressing appreciation for the work and dedication of the correctional and educational staff. She pointed out that subsidizing textbooks for minors in the JCC constitutes an important step towards ensuring equal conditions for education, emphasizing the irreplaceable role of teachers in the formation and orientation of these children.
“It is very important to work together to give these children a second chance”, said Minister Nagavci, adding that MESTI remains committed to continuously monitoring the work being carried out at the Center, with the aim of positively impacting the well-being of minors and providing equal opportunities for them.
Minister Nagavci announced that, in addition to providing textbooks and means of concretization, the school operating within the framework of the JCC will soon be equipped with digital boards, advancing teaching conditions and the educational process.
In conclusion, the Minister wished that the minors use the period of their stay at the Center to learn from their mistakes and to invest in their personal development, so that in the future they can be useful to themselves, their family, society and the state.
The Deputy Director of the Juvenile Correctional Center, Lulzim Gashi, emphasized that for the first time during this school year, MESTI has subsidized textbooks for juveniles at the Center, while the head of the school, Elmie Budakova, praised the institutional support and the continuous commitment of the teachers.
