The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Albin Kurti together with the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci and the Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi have met the scholarship beneficiaries from the Roma, Egyptian, Ashkali communities, for the academic year 2023/24.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Kurti said that, as the Government, we believe that the best way a person, a community and a state can progress is through education, adding that he is among the students to share their achievements with them. as students and to support and encourage them in their academic work.
The Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, congratulated the students for benefiting from the scholarships, while wishing them success in their studies and in gaining knowledge which will be of interest not only to them as students, but also to the family and society.
Among other things, Minister Nagavci said that the pledges are being implemented to create a society that cares for all citizens, a government that offers the deserved support for everyone and a state that creates the conditions for everyone to realize their full potential.
Minister Nagavci also emphasized that diversity is an added value of our multi-ethnic society, therefore the successful integration of communities is more opportunities and more progress for our society. Minister Nagavci also encouraged the students to focus on achieving academic success, because in this way they increase the opportunities for a good job, which, in addition to ensuring the financial aspect, would also affect the fight against stereotypes and prejudices as a phenomenon.
Otherwise, in the academic year 2022/2023 MAShTI has allocated for the first time 26 scholarships of 1000 euros for first year university students from the Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian communities.
In the academic year 2023/2024, 55 scholarship beneficiaries of 1000 euros have been selected from the Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian communities in the public universities of Kosova.
In the year 2021/2022, 500 scholarships of 300 euros have been allocated for high school students from the Roma, Ashkali, Egyptian communities. In the year 2022/2023, 498 scholarships of 300 euros have been allocated. For the year 2023/2024, 500 scholarships of 300 euros are in the process of being reviewed and prepared for payment.
