In the framework of marking March 8 – Women’s Day, the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, participated in the discussion on the topic “Women and girls in higher education”, which was held in the premises of the University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti”.
In this discussion attended by the rector of UPUH, Mentor Alishani, the vice-rectors, Adelina Rakaj and Serdan Kervan, the chairperson of the Governing Council, Arif Murrja, professors and students of this institution of higher education, the importance of the inclusion of women and girls in higher education and their role in the positive change of women’s position in society.
On this occasion, Minister Nagavci said that it is a special feeling that this day is celebrated in the city of Prizren, which is unique in the expression of civic, cultural and historical values.
Nagavci announced that institutional care for girls and women in Kosova requires multidimensional and multilateral efforts, for which the Government of Kosova has taken concrete steps to change the reality and perception of this process.
Among other things, Minister Nagavci has said that it has already been proven that the potential of women and girls to contribute to the field of higher education is extraordinary and that in order to realize this potential, affirmative measures are needed, which have been undertaken in the Ministry of Education.
In the wake of actions to support women and girls, Minister Nagavci has spoken about the distribution of STEM scholarships for students of these fields for the third year in a row, the organization of the STEMinists conference, which was held for the first time last year, with the aim of networking scientists and professionals from different countries and the distribution of annual awards, which are given by MAShTI to successful women and girls.
In the end, Minister Nagavci said that providing protection and support to girls today provides society with strong women tomorrow: professional women, entrepreneurs, scientists, mothers, mentors and political leaders.
The Rector of the University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti”, Mentor Alishani expressed his gratitude for the contribution of every woman in this institution of higher education and in society.
