Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Arsim Bajrami has taken part in the first constitutive meeting of the Rectors’ Conference of the Higher Education Public Institutions.
Minister Bajrami assessed as significant the establishment event of the Rectors’ Conference for higher education, after stressing the fact that this body was established after a nearly half-century tradition of higher education.
“This is a joint success of all our public universities. MEST is extremely pleased that has helped this process, because now the Rectors’ Conference will be a very important organ of building standards in higher education”, said the Minister, while stressed that through this body are starting the stabilization process in higher education, the process of quality increase and increasing confidence in opinion.
Speaking about relevance of the Rectors’ Conference, Minister Bajrami said that this powerful mechanism will be a strong partner from MEST in the student enrolment policies, in legislation compilation, in budget increase for public universities and other fields.
Minister Bajrami invited all partners to support universities, “to trust that we can build a qualitative higher education, because we have all the capacities”. As well, he stressed readiness of Rectors to cooperate among them to build modern universities.
“Strong universities create a democratic society, create a successful state and all we are aware about the responsibility that we have toward this process”, said Minister Bajrami, while stressed that MEST will support this body that in its work will be fully autonomous.
In this meeting, members of the conference have also adopted the work regulation of the Rectors’ Conference, while according to AI 11/2016 Chair and its Vice Chair were elected. For the next two years the conference will be chaired by the Rector of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” Mr. Marjan Dema, while, the Vice Rector will be the Rector of the University “Ukshin Hoti”, Mr. Rame Vataj.
The Chairman of the Conference, Mr. Marjan Dema, on this occasion, stressed the willingness of the University of Prishtina, to be in full implementation function of the role and responsibilities that this mechanism of higher education.
