The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) in cooperation with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), have launched the “Higher Education and Sustainable Research in Kosova-SHER” Program”, which will be implemented over the next three years and aims to affect essential aspects of higher education and bring positive and beneficial results.
On this occasion, the Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci said that the project was designed taking into account the current needs and concrete requirements of higher education in Kosova, including important reforms in this sector.
Nagavci has emphasized that the ShER program will support processes such as financing of Higher Education Institutions based on performance, revision and improvement of HEI statutes and harmonization of regulations, implementation of the National Science Program, etc.
Among other things, Minister Nagavci announced that, during this mandate, the Government of Kosovo has marked a series of important achievements in the field of higher education and research, including: the approval of the Law on the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation and the restoration of this Agency as an associate member in ENQA; approval of the National Science Program; UA approval for HEI financing based on performance; the approval of the new Statute of the University of Pristina and other important achievements, which advance the quality in higher education.
Nagavci expressed her gratitude on behalf of the Government of Kosova to the state of Austria, for the continuous support in all directions, especially in education, while he congratulated the new head of the ADA Office in Kosova, Rita Glavitza, for taking office.
The Austrian Ambassador to Kosova, Georg Schnetzer, thanked the Ministry of Education for the good cooperation over the years with ADA. Schnetzer recalled the support of the Government of Austria in education, for which he said that in addition to a privilege it is also a responsibility, while he added that the previous Heras Plus project was also a type of institution for education in Kosova.
