MEST and KEDS with Cooperation Agreement on students’ professional practice

Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Arsim Bajrami and general director of the Kosovar Company for distribution and power supply (KEDS), Mr. George Karagutoff have signed a cooperation agreement, which aims provision of professional practice in enterprises for students of secondary vocational schools, in achieving of professional competencies envisaged in the national curriculum.

The signing of this Cooperation Agreement is the continuation of MEST commitment to create partnerships between vocational schools with public and private enterprises in Kosova, so that young people (pupils and students) to take advantage of our experience in practical work and to be closer to the labour market.

Minister Bajrami, on this occasion appreciated that cooperation of the Ministry of Education with KEDS is a good example in the training of young people for the labour market.

“It’s an excellent collaboration that we have now and several years, a good example of the company’s investment in the education of youth, continuously taking a certain number of students, offering them the opportunity to exercise professional practice for six months, by building competencies and skills and by employing. This is a good example of MEST with businesses”, has said Minister Bajrami. 

Minister Bajrami also spoke about the importance of establishing a strong partnership of vocational schools with businesses, to enable that each school to have the company, which offers students the professional practice. 

“What we demand in the field of Vocational Education and Training is quality education for employment. MEST’s goal is to create 100 strong business partner, so that each pupil to meet the needs and skills of people by working and being trained in the company”, was expressed Minister Bajrami.    



While, general director of KEDS, Mr. George Karagutoff, said that young people involved in this program that provides theoretical and practical courses, are transformed in the future managers. “I’m glad to see these young people by taking new responsibilities and for taking new leaderships in the company. KEDS will continue with this project, by providing to young person’s new opportunities for employment”, was expressed Karagutoff. 

Otherwise, KEDS, respectively University Bogazici of Turkey has three years that organizes the Professional Academy for pupils and students from Kosova, by offering theoretical and practical training in the enterprise within a period of six months, certification and employment, depending on the company’s needs and youth performance.
