In the framework of marking the International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci participated in the Conference with the theme “Leadership in the career of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)”, which was held in the premises of the American University in Kosova (AUK).
The purpose of the International Day of Girls in ICT is to encourage and raise awareness among girls and women about the opportunities and challenges in the field of technology and communication..
On this occasion, Minister Nagavci said that the International Day of Girls in ICT is an opportunity to mark the value and contribution of girls to society, which serves to remind us of our responsibility to provide an environment where girls can develop their potential complete and contribute to the progress of society.
Nagavci announced that, as Minister of Education, she is committed to properly addressing gender issues and inclusiveness, while announcing that gender equality is part of educational curricula, legislation, strategies and programs, always based on national policies and legislation in force, in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights and other conventions that guarantee equal rights for both genders.
Among other things, Minister Nagavci said that we are actively involved in promoting and undertaking actions to ensure the implementation of the Istanbul Convention against domestic violence and violence against women, while it is worth emphasizing the commitment to the implementation of textbook standards , where one of the general standards is gender equality.
In the end, Minister Nagavci mentioned the STEMinists’24 Conference, which for the second year in a row is organized by MAShTI and aims at networking girls/women in these fields, promoting STEM fields at all levels of education, as well as creating opportunities for practical work and professional development.
The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the Executive Director of IPKO Foundation, Abetare Gojani and the coordinator of the STEM Project, Venera Demukaj, have also spoken about the importance of marking this day.
