The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci and the rector of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, Qerim Qerimi signed today the Memorandum of Cooperation, which aims at sustainable and continuous support for the promotion and further development of the Albanian study sciences, with special attention to the Albanian Language and Albanian Literature programs within the Faculty of Philology and the creative and research activities related to these programs.
Through this Memorandum, it is envisaged that MESTI will award annual scholarships to students enrolled in the BA and MA programs in Albanian Language and Albanian Literature at the Faculty of Philology at UP, in the amount of 1,000 euros, financial support for academic staff who publish scientific articles from the field of Albanianology in journals with an impact factor, support for scientific projects that promote Albanianology, etc.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Arbin Kurti, who was present at this ceremony, said that the language is not just a mean of communication or conversational knowledge, it is much more than that, so perhaps most people should learn and study the Albanian language, especially those who claim to know it.
Prime Minister Kurti also emphasized that this Memorandum will support the academic staff for scientific articles in the field of Albanianology in magazines with impact factors, the participation of scientific researchers in international seminars, young people who decide to study in the Albanian Language and Albanian Literature programs and various projects that promote Albanianology.
Meanwhile, rector Qerim Qerimi said that today many languages and cultures are in danger of losing their distinctive features, as a result of the constant pressure of globalization and its effects, as well as the effects of languages and cultures in the world.
Qerimi announced that there are a number of initiatives and activities that will be supported by MESTI and UP, for the financial support of the academic staff and students, for the creative and study activities of the Albanian Language and Albanian Literature programs.
